$17 Million Dell Class Action Lawsuit Settlement Approved
Dell class action lawsuit settlement for $17 million has been granted final approval by a Federal Court in Tacoma, Washington.
The class action has been filed against Dell, Inc., Dell Financial Services, L.P., and CIT Bank on behalf of certain Dell customers nationwide, alleged that the defendants’ practices caused consumers to incur excess finance charges and late fees.
Under the terms of the settlement, eligible class members may apply to receive a refund of 75.95% of the estimated interest paid during sixty days following the initial purchase. Class members who paid a late payment fee may receive a refund of 75.95% of the average late fee paid by class members. Dell Financial Services will also make changes to the way it advertises its promotional financing offers and communicates with consumers who receive lines of credit.

Even though Dell did not win the class action suit they are still “winning” by refusing to correct Dell Financial Services comments made to the various credit bureaus.
I was a member of this class and received payment for part of the interset I had paid on one of the “interest free” programs. After having received my settlement I wrote all three of the major credit reporting agencies to have them change the comments Dell put in my file. (”Account wite off”)This has caused numerous problems and a much lower FICO score. None of the agencies will change the comments and Dell has refused to acknowledge that it is their responsibility to request the change.
I guess it will take another suit to get them to do what is “right”.

How do I get in on a class action suit against Dell Financial Services? I don’t really want any money from them, although it would be nice since they took so much of mine. But really, I just want my credit fixed!!
