BigRed Slaps Yahoo With Million Dollar Clickfraud Lawsuit
Collectibles site Bigreds.com filed a lawsuit against Yahoo in the US District Court in the Eastern District of New York over the Overture affiliate click fraud allegation. Court order shows that Bigreds has shown their belief that a lucrative affiliate program was run over by Overture led to the alleged click fraud. Bigred alleged that affiliates earned up to 12 percent commission per click, with Bigreds sometimes paying over $3 per click.
In the context, it can be mentioned that Overture, formerly known as GoTo, was acquired by Yahoo.
Bigred, after knowing the existence of click fraud as a problem in the online ad business, has decided to go for a refund from Overture, confirmed sources. Bigreds believes click fraud took over $204,000 of its ad budget during the period. Moreover, if sources are to be believed, the company can demand reimbursement, plus the same amount from the unknown people who clicked its ads.
