Medical Malpractice Lawsuit over A Two-Centimeter-Long Needle
Chou, a 63 year old woman said that a two-centimeter-long needle had been left in her abdomen during a surgical procedure in National Taiwan University Hospital seven years ago and since then she experienced persistent severe abdominal pain.
“There were times when the pain would get so bad that I’d think of killing myself,” said Chou.
At a second hospital in Sanchong, doctors failed to tell the family about the needle after they discovered three years ago that it had been left in Chou’s abdomen.
Now she decided to sue these two hospitals for malpractice and incomplete disclosure of the patient’s medical condition.
She was finally informed of the problem when she asked to see the X-rays. The needle was removed one year ago at Veterans General Hospital, said Chou.
