Obama is considering to ensure expanded protection and benefits for workers.
According to attorneys and economists, Obama administration is expected to be more aggressive than its predecessor regarding employment and workplace discrimination lawsuits and anti-trust regulations.
Expert agrees that the aggressive extension of civil right laws to protect people will force employers and federal law to change a lot.
Changes at a glance:
Raising the federal minimum wage from $6.75 to $9.50 per hour. within six months it will go up to $7.25 per hour.
Guaranteeing American workers seven days of sick leave each year.
Extending workplace discrimination protections to sexual orientation and gender identity.
Putting in place pay equity laws aimed at disparity in pay between genders.
However, skeptics believes that such mandates will raise costs for business, it would be a headaches for employers at a time of economic recession, but on the other hand tendency to hire teenage workers would be minimized due to higher wage law.
