WA Residents File Class Action Lawsuit Against Alcoa

A class action lawsuit has been filed against Alcoa, over emissions from its three alumina refineries in the western Australia. The legal action against Alcoa, will take place in United States. The lawsuit will be spearheaded by the environmental campaigner Erin Brockovich.

The filed lawsuit came as reaction to the complaints made by thousands of the local residents over the emissions from its three alumina refineries in Wagerup, Pinjarra and Kwinana in Australia. All the residents of the states reported their health has been affected by the refineries’ emissions.

It can be mentioned that nearly 300 people have been agreed to participate to the class action against Alcoa. Lawyer Simon Morrison is coordinating the campaign in Western Australia.

    WOW . . . . . . . . . . . I live in Perth and know of Alcoa. I went to the Pinjarra refinery a couple of years ago as a school excursion, and to hear that they are making people sick sends a shiver up my spine. I have family members living very near the Kwinana refinery =/ and the fact that Erin Brockovich is involved makes it sound serious.
