A class action lawsuit has been filed against Alcoa, over emissions from its three alumina refineries in the western Australia. The legal action against Alcoa, will take place in United States. The lawsuit will be spearheaded by the environmental campaigner Erin Brockovich.

Italian Dairy Group Reaches Settlement In US Class Action Case

Italy’s dairy group Parmalat SpA said that it will issue new stock valued at more than $36 million to settle a class-action case against it. Parmalat will also pay up to 1 million euros ($1.55 million) of the cost of notifying the class members of the settlement, the statement said.

Missouri Court of Appeals Rewrites Part of Proposed Stem Cell Amendment

At a decision at the Missouri Court of Appeals, the court has decided to rewrite part of a proposed constitutional amendment banning a particular type of embryonic stem cell research. However, the sponsoring group, Cures Without Cloning, would have to turn in about 150,000 signatures by Sunday.

Whirlpool To Settle Water Heater Class Action Lawsuit Within Next Few Months

Whirlpool, is going to settle its, class action lawsuit over the defective water heater issue. The company sources told that the affected consumers are given two months time to file claims in the settlement. Nearly 1000 consumers have filed complaints that thermocouple in their Flame Lock or Flame Guard Whirlpool water heaters continuously breaks down, leaving them without hot water sometimes for days. Alfcell CEO Kuslima Shogun Announces To Retire By March 31 Next

Kuslima Shogun, CEO and founder of biopharmaceutical giant Alfcell, plans to retire by the March 31 of next year. The retirement came as a part of a deal the company said could reduce royalty payments to Shogun by $20 million over the next 10 years if the company’s lead drug candidate, Onconase, is approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Additionally, Onconase is a proposed treatment for malignant mesothelioma.
