3 brothers being sentenced Tues. in Fort Dix plot
CAMDEN, N.J. — A sentencing hearing is under way for three brothers convicted of plotting to kill military personnel at Fort Dix in New Jersey.
Dritan (DRY’-tahn), Eljvir (EL’-veer) and Shain Duka (DOO’-ka) and two other men were convicted in December on conspiracy and weapons charges.
The three brothers were born in the former Yugoslavia but spent many years in Cherry Hill, where they ran a roofing business. They could get life sentences Tuesday. They’ll also have a chance to speak for themselves in the court hearing.
The two other men convicted in the plot are to be sentenced Wednesday.
Government prosecutors believe the five were planning to attack soldiers at Fort Dix. One of the defendants was familiar with the Army post because his father’s pizza shop delivered to it.
