The Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM), a private institute which provides BBA and MBA degrees has it’s campus and branches in major metroplitan cities across India.
Gaurav Sabnis Indian bloggers working then at IBM wrote aganst IIPM in an article - “The fraud that is IIPM” [gauravsabnis.blogspot.com/2005/08/fraud-that-is-iipm.html] . Gaurav questioned the qualification of the present dean of IIPM, Arindam Chaudhuri.
IIPM called up Senior Executive of Lenovo (formerly IBM PC Division of IBM) and threatened that IIPM Students Union had decided if Gaurav’s blog posts were not deleted, they would gather all IBM Thinkpads they had been given by the institute, and burn them in front of IBM Delhi office.
Gaurav said he quit his job on moral grounds [gauravsabnis.blogspot.com/2005/10/update.html] as he was unwilling to delete the posts and he didn’t want to inconvenience IBM.
IIPM never communicated with me civilly saying that I was wrong. Nor did they provide any evidence to show that they were wrong. For instance, if they had sent the complete details of Arindam Chaudhuri’s educational qualifications, including the years of passing out, universities, and even grades, I would have gladly eaten my words, and posted an apology.
One can only surmise what happened behind the scenes. Shame on you IIPM.
