Inco’s Nickel Refinery in Class Action Law Suit for Pollution

One of Inco’s nickel refineries was alleged for polluting the environment with nickel oxide when it operated a refinery in the city between 1918 and 1984, in an Ontario court of appeal of a small Ontario city, according to the plaintiff’s law firm.

The homeowners in Port Colborne, on the north shore of Lake Erie have filed the suit and seeking damages for the alleged contamination.

The group claims the nickel oxide has affected the physical and emotional health and wellbeing of the residents of Port Colborne.

As well, the substance is alleged to have caused widespread damage to land, homes and businesses in the area.
