Judge deciding who repays Yellowstone Club’s $375M loan; owner, ex-husband blame each other

Judge deciding who pays Mont. resort’s $375M loan

MISSOULA, Mont. — A federal bankruptcy court judge is considering who is responsible for repaying a $375 million loan taken out by a Montana resort for the ultrarich.

During a weeklong trial, Yellowstone Club owner Edra Blixseth and her ex-husband, Tim, accused each other of financial missteps that ultimately drove the club to seek federal bankruptcy protection last year.

Most of the 2005 loan went into the Blixseths’ private accounts. Creditors owed money by the club say that rendered the transaction illegal.

The trial ended Wednesday. Federal bankruptcy Judge Ralph B. Kirscher is expected to rule on the case before the club is sold at an auction scheduled for May 13.
