Jury to get case in Fla. gang rape trial
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Closings arguments will begin in the trial of one of two men accused of raping and beating a mother and her young son.
Eighteen-year-old Nathan Walker faces 14 counts, including sexual battery, burglary, kidnapping and grand theft. Twenty-year-old Tommy Lee Poindexter faces the same charges except grand theft. A third defendant pleaded guilty and testified against the others. A fourth is set for trial in September.
Closing arguments for Walker are scheduled for Friday morning. Closings for Poindexter were presented Thursday. Both defendants are being tried together, but have separate juries.
Police say the defendants, along with up to six others, gang-raped and sodomized the woman, and beat her 12-year-old son. They face life in prison.
