Jury views videos from Vegas casino shooting
LAS VEGAS — Jurors in a Las Vegas casino shooting trial are viewing silent security videotapes showing a gunman in a tan coat opening fire in the casino two years ago.
Defendant Steven Francis Zegrean (ZEG’-reen) sat pinching his lip and rolling a pen on a blank yellow legal pad Wednesday as prosecutors showed multiple angles of about seven minutes recorded before, during and after the July 2007 shooting.
The 53-year-old unemployed house painter has pleaded not guilty to 52 felony charges in the shooting that left four wounded. A fifth person was hurt as she tried to flee the New York-New York casino.
If convicted, Zegrean could spend the rest of his life in prison.
Prosecutors and defense lawyers say they plan to call about 30 witnesses.
