NiSource To Appeal Royalty Class Action Lawsuit Verdict

Ni Source has announced its plan to file the class action lawsuit in the US Supreme Court. The company decides to go to the Supreme Court after the Court of Appeal of West Virginia has declined to hear the company’s appeal. The company will file a lawsuit to the Supreme Court within next few months and is expecting the action within early next year.

It can be added that this class action lawsuit was filed in year 2007. In the verdict, a jury set a penalty of $404 million against NiSource, arguing that it hadn’t fully paid landowners royalty payments. The company is hopeful of favorable review from the Supreme Court.
