NAGPUR - President Pratibha Patil has appealed to women lawyers to secure justice for women against all sorts of exploitation.
She said Friday that women, particularly in the lower strata of society, continue to suffer discrimination even after 60 years of Independence.
Patil inaugurated a two-day national conference of women lawyers on ‘Justice for Women’ at the Amolakchand Law College in Yavatmal. Over 250 lawyers and law teachers participated in the event held at the western Vidarbha town.
The president was accompanied by Governor S.C. Jamir, Chief Minister Ashok Chavan. Pratibha Patil’s husband, educationist Devisingh Shekhawat, was also present.
