Revised Lemon Law is more consumer friendly

The scope of Georgia’s Lemon Law has been broadened for consumers who have purchased a new car since Jan 1.

The time frame under the law has been enhanced from 1 year or 12,000 miles to two years or 24,000 miles. Also the gross weight of vehicles that can fall under the law has been increased from 10,000 pounds to 12,000 pounds. Now trucks such as Ford F350,Dodge Ram 3500, Chevrolet Silverado 3500 and GMC Sierra 3500 are also included under the Lemon Law.

Previously makers are allowed 2 chances to repair a serious safety defect.Under the new law the makers will be given just a single chance.Final repair attempt was allowed to the manufacturers even after a number of tries in past. However, the revised version of the law rejects any plea for final attempt if the vehicle is kept in repair shop for 30 days or more.

It is expected the customers will be highly satisfied with the new edition of the rules under Lemon Law and car market will suffer less loss in this atmosphere of economic downturn.
