Suspended-License Lawsuit Dropped by NC Medical Board

The lawsuit against a doctor at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center accused of having a suspended medical license in another state, has been dropped without prejudice by the North Carolina Medical Board.

According to the board, the Illinois Division of Professional Regulation suspended Woods' medical license in 2004 because she failed to report a settlement in a medical-malpractice lawsuit filed against a Chicago hospital in the late 1990s. Woods was also a defendant in that case.

Julius Chambers, defendant’s attorney, said in an earlier interview that she was unaware that her Illinois license had been suspended because notification of the suspension had been sent to the wrong address.
