Yale And Towne Fire Class Action Lawsuit on Proceed

A class action lawsuit has been filed on behalf of nearly 100 antique dealers who lost millions in an April fire at the old Yale & Towne site accusing the accusing the owners of failing to meet fire codes.

The dealers lost millions of dollars in antiques when the flames ripped through the 17,000-square-foot space inside Building 15 of the old Yale & Towne complex, the lawsuit states.

The lawsuit, which draws in part on the results of a city investigation into the South End blaze, faults Antares Investment Partners of Greenwich for failing to repair a sprinkler system officials knew to be broken, the document states.

The suit accuses Antares of ignoring fire code violations while the company waited for the city’s permission to tear down the buildings.
